Ghost Story

Before I moved to Hawaii, I used to live in Virginia Beach where the neighborhood was very large and each house had plenty of land. About a quarter mile down the road there was a small farm and my best friend and I would always bike down to it. Right outside of the gates in the back that kept in the horses, there was a small white house. It was more of a shack because it was clearly abandoned and looked extremely creepy.

My friend, Becca, said it was haunted but I didn't believe her. One night we decided to take a bike ride and we ended up riding past the house. We were very curious so we layed down our bikes and slowly crept over to the side window. We moved a log so we could stand on it and see in. We looked through the window and we saw many spider and cob webs. The floor was dirty and everything had dust on it. It had clearly not been in use for a long time.

Suddenly, we heard something fall over; possibly a pot or an alarm clock. We got really freaked out and held each other tightly; shivering. Just then a bright light shined out from the sides and underneath the door. It wasn't a light that you flick on or a lamp or a flashlight. It was a bright and steady whitish light. We knew it was a ghost. We screamed and ran back to our bikes as fast as our eight-year-old feet could carry us. We jumped back on and raced away, pedaling as fast as we could. When we got home we threw down our bikes and ran inside. We made sure all the doors were locked and we went to Becca's room. We turned on all the lights and got under the covers. After ten minutes or so we slowly went towards the window of her bedroom. When we finally realized nothing was coming after us, a wave of relief came and we enjoyed the rest of our night. We never went close to that house again but now that I'm older, I don’t believe it was a ghost.
